“There are heros among us and I have been blessed to know and experience some of these beings of greatness on my journey of healing, recovering and living. I am continually inspired by humanity’s capacity to give, to love, to learn, to embrace and to share in each other’s challenges and triumphs. These are just a few of the many people that inspire me…” – KORG
When Grant was first injured, friends Duncan Lee and Steven Siig reached to Roy Tuscany who had just co-founded the High Fives Foundation (a Truckee-based 501.c.3 whos mission is to “high five” the next athlete who has sustained a life-altering injury in the wintersports realm, to return to the sport they love). A few years prior, Roy had burst fractured his T-12 vertebra, pushed hard to overcome it in a HUGE way, and (along with recovery legend Adam Baillargeon) walked right into Grant’s life with inspiration, brotherly love, and a non-stop healing hand to help him on his journey.
While still in the hospital bed (in Grant’s living room), Roy walked in and said, “may I sit in your wheelchair, because you are not going to need it for very long”… From that day forward, Roy has had Grant’s back on every step of his journey. Roy has now helped over 50+ athletes work toward their goals/dreams, and for this reason and so so many more, Roy is forever a hero in our eyes!!!

Aaron Baker is the embodiment of words we all casually throw around like Jedi, Ninja, or Miracle… Baker is one in a million, a brother who every day walks the walk, and Grant more than thinks the world of his awesomeness!
An upcoming professional motorcross racer, young Baker broke his neck on May 26, 1999 during a crash while practicing. Lying in the dirt motionless and completely aware of his new journey, Aaron knew he had broken cervical vertebras 4-5-6 in his neck. No longer a professional motorcycle rider, Aaron Baker realized his truth was to inspire the world, and he more than answered the call…
Beginning his journey with no feeling or movement below the neck, Baker spent over a year in the hospital. While in the hospital his neurosurgeon diagnosed him as a complete quadriplegic, having “a one in a million chance” of regaining any function below his level of injury. However, with the unconditional love and support of his ROCKSTAR Mom Laquita Dian Conway, the knowlege-base of recovery mastermind Taylor-Kevin Isaacs, and the everyday practice of truly honoring his intense desire to rise like a phoenix – Aaron has put in over a decade of hard work, comitment, and non-stop belief to achieve what others thought to be unachievable. By focusing his mind and energy, Baker manifested a slow tedious return of function and strength. AND… in early 2012, Aaron Baker threw a leg over his stand-up road bike to compete in the US paralympic trials competition with the desire to represent the USA at the 2012 games in London!
With years of focus, belief, and mental strength – everything is possible!!! After a decade of pushing his body forward, Aaaron Baker walks unassisted, Aaron Baker rides his bike once again on a professional level, and in (Grant and Shawna’s mind) Aaron Baker is not just a miracle, he is ONE IN A MILLION!!!
Julia Mancuso is more than a US Ski Team multi-time World Title holder, more than an Olympic Gold Medalist, more than a world-class surfer, more than a 4+ minute (in one breath) freediver, more than an inspiration to millions, and more than one of the world’s most celebrated and respected athletes of our time… Julia is a Champion!
When Jules sets her mind to a goal, every cell in her body conspires in unisom to not only achieve it, but to also achieve it with style, class and strength. Julia and the AMAZING (all caps) Mancuso family have opened huge doors for Grant’s journey back from his 2010 Spinal Cord Injury. For Grant, training with Julia both inspires greatness, and keeps his mind focused on the ultimate goal – well beyond the milestone of 100% recovery. Grant’s eyes are set on 120% recovery, and watching Jules train to stay the fastest woman on the planet is good good medicine!!! #GoSuperJules

James J. Lynch, MD, FRCSI, FAANS
Grant burst fractured his L-1 vertebra on March 5th, 2010. He and Shawna refused to accept the notion that the independance Grant once cherished had become a thing of the past. The duo kept the faith swimming tirelessly against the current, and chipped away at the first of many spinal cord injury recovery milestones. And then, something profound came to pass…
Grant and Shawna met neurosurgeon, Dr. James Lynch in late 2010, and Grant’s recovery began to increase exponentially. Dr. Lynch empowered Grant with his knowlege, answered all the difficult questions, encouraged their team to keep researching, and challenged Grant to work harder than he’d ever worked before. For Grant, all this support and encouragement led to increased feeling and function.
Dr. Lynch is one of the “Top 50 spine specialists in America” (Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review, 2010), he is a man who reached out from the void to empower Grant’s journey back from paralysis, and he is a modern day superstar who’s impact changes the lives of all who have the opportunity to meet him. Dr. Lynch is a hero to the Korgan’s, and one of Grant’s best friends…
